About the Village: A village and parish positioned beside the Chiltern Hills, four miles to the east of the town of Aylesbury in Bucks (Buckinghamshire), Aston Clinton grew up beside the junction of the Icknield Way and Akeman Street. The parish has an area of 3,809 acres and houses a population of three and a half thousand, it was most likely first settled in Saxon times and was registered in the 1086 Domesday Book as Estone (Eastern Estate). The St Michael and All Angels parish church was first built in the 12th century, it had further constructions in the 13th and 14th centuries and it was completely refurbished during the nineteenth century (around 1867). The village has one claim to fame in that it gave part of it's name to a famous car (the Aston Martin), after tests and a hill climb event on the nearby Aston Hill (otherwise it would have been named Bamford Martin). An affluent patron of Aston Clinton, Sir Anthony de Rothschild gave the Anthony Hall to the community, it survives as one of the village's well known buildings. The Anthony Hall was finished in 1884 and is today utilized for several local activities and functions.
