About the Village: A village and parish established beside the Chiltern Hills, four miles east of the town of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire (Bucks), Aston Clinton grew close to the junction of Akeman Street and the Icknield Way. The parish of Aston Clinton has an area of 3,809 acres and is home to a population of 3,543, it was first inhabited during Saxon times and entered into the Domesday Book as Estone (which meant Eastern Estate). The St Michael and All Angels parish church dates from the twelfth century, it had further additions in the 13th and 14th centuries though it was completely remodeled in the 19th century (around 1867). One of the village's claims to fame is that it gave half of it's name to a famous car (the Aston Martin), following testing and a hillclimbing tournament on the nearby Aston Hill (it would otherwise have been called Bamford Martin). A rich patron of the village, Sir Anthony de Rothschild donated the Anthony Hall to the community, it survives as one of the village's most iconic buildings. The Anthony Hall was completed in the 1880's and is in modern times used for countless local activities and functions.
